Accessibility statement
AusNews Table aims to make its food journalism and practical guidance understandable and operable for as many people as possible.
1. Our approach
We use WCAG 2.1 Level AA as a practical reference for this website. Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time claim, and we review the experience as content and technology change.
2. Structure and navigation
Pages use semantic landmarks, a consistent heading hierarchy, descriptive links and a skip link. Navigation works as standard links; on smaller screens the menu uses the native details control and remains usable without JavaScript.
3. Keyboard and focus
Interactive elements can be reached in a logical order with a keyboard. Focus indicators are deliberately visible. The mobile menu can be closed with Escape when JavaScript is available, while its core function remains native.
4. Type, colour and motion
Text uses responsive sizing, limited line length and high-contrast colours. Information is not conveyed by colour alone. Reduced-motion preferences disable smooth scrolling and transitions.
5. Images and formats
Meaningful photographs include concise alternative text, while decorative brand graphics are hidden from assistive technology. Content remains readable when images or scripts are unavailable.
6. Feedback and known limits
Device, browser and assistive-technology combinations vary. If a page, link or format creates a barrier, email us with the page address, the issue and your preferred way to receive the information. We will consider a reasonable accessible alternative.
